Big stone block:1, Car:0.
There was this little problem of a narrow dirt road full of big potholes full of water. Tried to miss the big potholes but there was this big concrete block, covered with grass on the side of the road. We demolished one front wheel and “adjusted” the front end.
After ringing the emergency phone number in France, a recovery truck turned up to take the car (and us) to the nearest Peugeot dealer, in Galashiels, about 50 miles away. Got there to find that the dealer had closed this business, and was now at Hawick, another 20 miles away. About 2 hours total travel. The mechanic looked at the car and determined that there was just over GBP1000 of suspension damage. Hopefully the parts can be ordered tomorrow and delivered on Friday morning. Hopefully the car will be ready on Friday pm, if not, it will be Monday. We should be getting a hire car until we get ours back. We have to be at Harwich to cross the channel on Thursday night ready for the ferry on Friday. All of a sudden, timing is getting a little tighter. We will have to bypass some stuff. Long, slightly stressful day today.
Found a nice B&B here in Hawick for the night tonight, short walk from the Peugeot dealer. Just back from dinner at Wetherspoons pub a few minutes away.
Nothing like a bit of excitement while on holiday. I bet you enjoyed your first glass of wine that night. Hope it can be repaired before you go on the ferry to Europe. Best wishes Marilyn and John
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on your blog and got to the part where you modified the car. Haven't read the rest yet so don't know how you got on, but what a frustration. I will read on now to find out how quickly it was fixed.
