Before we left Whitby this morning, we went for a walk to a great viewpoint, down to the wharf area, to the swing bridge (Gary, the one Greg asked us about) and back again. It was a little misty, quite different to last night.
Then, the really exciting thing about travelling, the laundrette. We are now clean again for another week and a bit.
It rained for a lot of the day, but we drove along the coast to Scarborough and found outdoor coffee under a big umbrella. Had a good view of the harbour with the tide well on the way out. Coffee was good too. It was nice taking our time with coffee, seeing a bit of light rain and watching happenings while sitting outside and keeping dry.
We continued along the coast, stopping sometimes and experiencing rain, sun, warmth, just like Melbourne.
Tonight’s hotel is another from Hotels.com, and is very comfortable. Big room, big bathroom, very modern. Wifi here is very good, compared to last night’s, when Rick had to either sit on the stairs near the first floor (we were on the third), or in the lounge. Made it a bit difficult to discuss planning today and looking at hotels in Amsterdam. Gill’s back is still very sore, but getting better slowly, so it was not a great idea for her to go up and down 2 or 3 flights of stairs a lot.
We are now, very elegantly, sitting in our room having a pre dinner drink out of coffee mugs. It seems that the hotel doesn’t provide glasses. First one ever.
Glad you got to see the bridge open and/or close
