First destination today was Gouda. Just on the edge of Gouda, there is a main, busy canal, with locks and lift bridges. Had to stop and have a look. Some very attractive boats.
Found a canalside park (again), but this time we were very careful to check on parking restrictions. There were none and free parking on Sundays. We set our parking location on the phone map and went exploring. Had great coffee, bought some wine and saw more canals and bridges. Many bridges and canalsides had colourful geraniums in baskets. Another pretty town. Pity about all the algae in the water.
We passed some traditional windmills on the way. Don’t know if they are actually operating, listed or kept for the tourist, but they looked good.
Then we called in to Leiden, paid for canalside parking and looked at more canals, bridges and a windmill. More of the same, but just a little different.
