Brussels outskirts Wednesday

Might have had a little tipple more than usual tonight. Just back from dinner.

We had a very slow breakfast outside this morning. There were a lot of trees, grass and thick vegetation around and it felt so peaceful. The day started warm, and reached about 30 degrees by late morning, dropped to about 22 when it rained, then rose to about 30 again in mid afternoon. Still 29 degrees at 9pm. We were passing the outskirts of Antwerp and, on Laura’s suggestion, found a park & ride and caught a tram into Antwerp Central Station, one of the most beautiful in the world. Isn’t it normal to get on a tram to look at a railway station?

Although we didn’t have a lot of time, we walked around a bit, looked at many of the stunning buildings and had a good coffee. Antwerp is a beautiful city and, while big, didn’t have the feel of being full of people, especially tourists and was well worth the half hour each way on the tram.
