Gets light very early. Lots of birds and light, but no human intrusion. Up at 6am, started the engine to heat the water for the shower, breakfast at 7 and left the mooring at 8. We managed 31 locks up then stopped for lunch around 1 pm. We thought it would take about 7 hours, but we settled into a good system with 3 of us working the locks. Went through 2 tunnels, the Tardebigge Tunnel at 580 yards and the second, Shortwood Tunnel at 613 yards.
Old lock gate with paddle opening.
We’ve stopped for the night at Alvechurch and have just returned from a 30 min return walk into the village and for coffee.
