Woke up this morning, having slept very well after all the exercise yesterday, to a sunny, very still morning. Reflections on the canal were fantastic. There were no locks today, so it was a very easy run to Birmingham. We went through one of the longest tunnels in the canal network, 2726 yards. We could just see the light at the end of the tunnel, and yes it was the light of an oncoming boat. Fortunately it is a 2 way tunnel, but it was a bit freakish when we had to pass another boat with only inches to spare (got into the imperial units easily (and the map is in imperial)).
Filling up with water
We have moored right in the middle of the Gas Street Basin for the afternoon and night, a place we visited by car 2 years ago. This time it is sunny and warm. Many canalside pubs/eating places and we had great fish & chips and a glass of wine for lunch. So much activity here, both people and boats.
Tonight’s mooring
Found free wifi at a nearby hotel, so here goes.
Looks like very nice weather.
