We decided there was no rush to leave “The Bull” in Long Melford ‘cos it was very wet (rain was almost horizontal), so we had a slow breakfast.
We drove back to Lavenham to have a look at the village that has over 300 listed buildings. Still pouring so we visited the big church and had a look at the art exhibition. Still raining so we found a quaint little tea shop and sat over a couple of cups of coffee. The rain eased a little, so we walked around a little, admiring some of the very old buildings.
Still raining, so we decided to drive for about an hour to visit the Houghton water mill, one of the largest working mills, rebuilt in the 17th century. There has been a mill on this site since the year 969.
Stopped in Houghton to look at other buildings, not raining as much.
We are now at “The George” in Huntingdon. Had to do a little negotiating to get the price down from 95 GBP (bit over the top for us) to 70 GBP. Told the receptionist that it was way over our budget, so he managed to work out what he could drop the price to.
Its incredible that some of those houses are still standing they are so wobbly looking. We wonder if the floors are level.
