Sitting
at a bright desk, looking out over our balcony with geraniums hanging from it,
past other wooden geranium decorated building balconies at the snow
capped mountains above the tree lined valley, is not a bad way to start the day's short blog.
We
had a relatively slow drive today, with so much traffic on the French side of
the border. Queues through villages, roundabouts, railway crossing all helped
to slow the traffic down. Didn’t matter as we had a little under a 3 hour
drive. We stopped after about 2 hours at a little restaurant over the border in
Switzerland for a coffee, sitting outside in the shade. Felt good.
We’ve
had time to sus out what we want to do tomorrow. Hopefully we can buy a
combined ticket that will let us ride the cable car to the Matterhorn glacier,
then across country a bit and the rack & pinion train back to Zermatt. Cars
are not allowed in Zermatt, so we catch a shuttle train from here at Tasch.
The
basic map we picked up from the station has “selfiepoints” marked on it. Not
sure why not just view points.
