There
are many opportunities at supermarkets. You can buy food, an unusual thing to
do, you can often buy fuel and often do your washing. We haven’t needed to
resort to that yet.
We
got to Chamonix around lunch time, having driven through a lot of rain. Top of
8 degrees in Chamonix and -8 up on the mountain. First stop was tourist info
for a map and some info about the cable car and rack & pinion train that we want to take tomorrow.
We couldn’t check in to our Air BnB ‘til 4pm, so we grabbed the umbrella (it
was still raining) and tried to find our apartment so we were ready for the
check in time. Very confusing address and gave up, decided to have coffee, then
do our washing and ring the owner at 4pm. We found a front entrance to the
building our apartment is in, then walked around the other side to the (small)
street address we were given and found the entrance. From then it was easy,
enter code to get into the building, find the door to the apartment, enter code
into a box to get the key and, presto, inside. It is 16 sq metres, including
bathroom. Fold out bed/setee, tiny kitchen with 2 hot plates and microwave.
Thanks Joan & John for the Floc.
Great view out the back door (behind the right hedge) to the cable car that goes to Aiguille du Midi, which we want to go to tomorrow, reasonable weather permitting. A lot of cloud today and is expected to be better tomorrow. Apartment is all that we need.
