Saint Dizier Wednesday

You get what you pay for. Not sure why last night’s hotel had a tripadvisor rating as high as it did. Room was very small, but OK. Wifi was almost non existent. It worked initially, then nothing. Just managed wifi reception at breakfast. At least aircon was good.
We went into the centre of Nancy for a few hours this morning, neither of us had been there before and we were surprised to see the size and “ornateness” of the main city square, Place Stanislas. It really was a grand location. Coffee in one of the smaller squares that we stumbled on. We thought that the Trompe l’oeil paintings on one of the buildings we passed looked great.
A very nice town, worth the effort of visiting.

We just happened to find a canal with a lock to stop at for our apple break. No boats though. We arrived at Saint Dizier with some time to spare, so we walked through the town, realising that we’ve very likely seen the best of the old buildings over the last few days. Interesting though. We had to buy some new thongs for Rick, the current ones are very thin, both soles cracked and not likely to last for more than a few days if lucky. Been watching them carefully for the last few days.

Stopped at the Leclerc supermarket to try and find the same wine we had last night, a very nice Côtes du Rhône Rosé. Success. Might have to open it soon to check that it’s OK.

  1. The square in Nancy looks very impressive, we might add that to our list.
    Enjoy your last week!
